Gerry McKenna passes

It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of Gerry Mckenna. A great musician and a lovely man who we will all remember as a dear friend.

Dave's Diary

Well it's been a very busy time for the band.
We have travelled far and wide with what can only be described as a ridiculous schedule.
We have toured in America, Germany and Scotland so far and we are about to embark on yet another tour of America which takes in a few dates in Canada.
Travelling and playing music is not an easy game but it beats working for a living !!
Last week we played in Montrose folk club on Tuesday night and then flew to Tallinn in Estonia for our Wednesday and Thursday gigs ( instruments going missing on the journey - thanks to the baggage handlers at Schiphol airport - fortunately they arrived in time for the second show. ). We then had Friday night in Stonehaven folk club, Saturday night we played Lossiemouth Warehouse and on Sunday afternoon we played in the Sandend village Hall.
A couple of days to organize myself and now we are off to America and Canada.
We will only be back for a matter of days before heading to Germany and Austria.
It's tough at the top but it's sheer hell were we are !!

Why do we do it ? Is it for the fame ? Is it for the travel ? Is it for the money ?
Well let me tell you the only way to make a million in Scottish folk music is to start with two million !!

U.S. Spring 2010 Tour Photos and U.S./Canadian Mailing List Reminder

Hi Everyone,

There are a few photos from the spring tour that I just put up. Sadly I lost most of the pictures from the Michigan leg of the tour. :-( I don't know what happened, but they just weren't there when I started to upload from the camera.

I also wanted to remind folks in the U.S. and Canada that, as I said in the spring post card mailing, there will be no more postcards going out. Starting with the fall 2010 tour schedule it will be email only. If you want to continue to receive updates for activities in North America, and you haven't already contacted me, send an email to me at booknsg@comcast.net and put "Emailing List" in the subject line. Please include your first and last name (please don't use Bill & Mary but enter it as Bill Smith or Mary Smith), email address (of course) and zip code or postal code. Please don't forget the zip/postal code so we can have an idea of where in the country you're located.

Classical Albums available for Download

Hi folks,

Dave wrote in with the happy news that most of the band's classical albums are now available for digital, DRM-free download at iTunes, Amazon and the usual places. The list includes

  • From Fields Afar
  • Live from Edinburgh
  • Those so dearly held
  • Spirit of the Banished

all of them "must-haves" for any self-respecting North Sea Gas fan out there.

So run, don't walk to the digital download purchase platform of your choice while supplies last ;-) If you have any questions, please leave a message in the Guestbook or contact Dave directly (see the "contact" section).

All the best,
